Training in Giving & Receiving Feedback
Motivate employees, prevent conflicts and accelerate professional growth
Giving & receiving feedback is probably the most important, and at the same time the most neglected aspect of interpersonal communication. Its absence or bad execution is the number 1 mistake in leadership, communication and teamwork (and many others).
Our training in giving & receiving feedback starts out by demonstrating the fundamental importance of feedback for a multitude of work related situations, such as leading, motivating, communicating, teambuilding or resolving conflicts (before they arise). Also we illustrate the importance of feedback for learning, development and relationship building.
Only after the importance is clear we focus on how to actually give and receive critical-constructive feedback in a way that the other person will be able to take/accept the feedback without feeling attacked or accused. We establish rules for giving and receiving critical-constructive feedback before we turn to different tools/schemata for formulating constructive feedback.
The ulterior goal of this training course is to enable participants to use the power of feedback as an essential tool for motivation, conflict prevention and personnel development. Specifically, after participating in this training session, participants are able to:
- Understand the importance of giving and receiving feedback
- Use their body language and empathy to create a constructive environment
- Give and receive critical-constructive feedback
- Formulate their critics based on underlying strengths
- Know and apply different practical tools for giving feedback
- Johari Window
- Active listening
- Body language and emotions
- Feedback rules (giving & receiving)
- Sandwich / Feedmac
- SBI (Situation/Behaviour/Impact)
- Rectangle of values by Schultz von Thun
Interactivity, active experience and learning by doing constitute the core methodology of this training course. Based on the Johari window model, participants will understand the importance of self-revelation and feedback as essential tools for motivation, conflict prevention and personnel development. Step-by-step, different feedback tools will be introduced and immediately tried out in practical exercises. Pros and cons of each method will be analyzed and reflected to select and adapt them to the day-to-day routines of participants. Additionally, dealing with critical feedback and resistance to feedback will be practiced in role- plays and group dynamic exercises.
